Thought I'd fire up the introductions board by saying Hi!. Im in Northamptonshire, I've only recently gotten "into" Gundam and Gunpla after mainly putting gw models together and painting them. I love the ease (yet challenge, if you get what i mean) of constructing gunpla kits and find it a breath of fresh air (and not glue fumes) not to have to use cement. I've just finished my second kit, a HGUC RX 178 in Titans colours. Im currently watching Zeta and I've watched 00. I'd love suggestions for what to watch/build next. I will, someday, own the Hi-Nu MG... *drools*

The next one to watch chronologically is ZZ Gundam, which is a direct continuation of Zeta. However, the tone is quite different and more light-hearted to balance out the darkness of Zeta, beginning with the first theme tune "Anime ja nai" - i.e. "This is not an anime"! It gets more serious in the second half though.
The other ones I would recommend are Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory and Char's Counterattack. The first takes place 3 years before Zeta, the the latter 7 years later. They both have excellent animation and storylines.
The MG Hi-Nu is currently in stock and the price has now dropped, but the new MG Hi-Nu ver Ka is being released in August so you might want to wait for that, as it will be a much better kit (although pricier).
